Joyce graduated in 1960 from the University of Louisville with a bachelor of arts degree with a major in fine arts and concentration of painting. She also studied fine arts at the University of Miami and Indiana University Southeast. Joyce also received additional training with John Michael Carter and Daniel E. Greene.

• Currently holding exhibits at the Speed Art Museum and Floyd County Museum as well as several art galleries.
• Won Several art awards including the Annual Woman's Club of Louisville Art Show.
• Teaches Drawing & Painting at Preston Arts Centers, located in New Albany Indiana and Louisville Kentucky.
• Received Arts Educator of the Year award in 2008
